How to be happy is a question that is asked a lot these days. What does it mean to be happy anyways? Webster’s defines happy as:
1. feeling pleasure and enjoyment because of your life, situation, etc.
2. showing or causing feelings of pleasure and enjoyment
3. pleased or glad about a particular situation, event, etc.
So how exactly does one become happy? Where do you start?
You can start with a few simple ideas:
Give up things that don’t make you happy
A bad job, a bad friend, a stressful situation, a bad living arrangement and so on
Replace the “missing tile”
Some things you’ll never be able to have (can we say all the money in the world?) So what can you replace it with that would make you happy as if that tile in the floor of your life was not missing
Get a distraction
Music, dance, friends, outings, finding nature are among some things to distract you
Find a hobby
Painting, working out, walking dogs, book clubs, cooking and so on
Change your view
Sometimes the way you look at things is the reason you’re unhappy. If you change your mind set things could start looking up.
